SAP S/4HANA Asset Management Training & Demo
Connect asset records, maintenance work, spares and cost. A practical eight-stage framework for engineering teams and enterprise decision-makers.
Give every maintenance decision a traceable foundation.
Manufacturing teams often coordinate breakdown calls, inspection records, spare-parts requests and calibration dates across separate registers and spreadsheets. That makes it difficult to see who owns a repair, whether materials are ready and which failures keep returning.
MetaDynamic’s SAP S/4HANA asset management training connects these activities through a common process. Planners, technicians, stores, procurement and finance work through sample scenarios, with clear ownership and evidence at each step.
The session is designed for maintenance heads, plant leaders, reliability engineers and CIOs. It links practical user exercises to the governance decisions needed before rollout.
Eight stages. One connected learning path.
Each stage links a business question to the relevant data, process owner and demonstration exercise.
Model assets
Build functional locations, equipment records, spare-parts bills of material and measurement points. Keep ownership, criticality and supporting documents consistent.
Share assets
Define controlled document and service-provider collaboration. Cloud asset collaboration is an optional extension, subject to the selected solution and access rights.
Assess risk
Agree asset criticality, safety impact and response priorities. Use clear damage and cause codes so the backlog can be reviewed consistently.
Define strategies
Prepare standard task lists, time-based or counter-based maintenance plans, warranty references and calibration requirements for each asset group.
Plan maintenance
Align order operations, technician capacity, production windows, components and external services before release. Identify material shortages early.
Execute maintenance
Record work, time, parts, findings and completion evidence. Apply the agreed approval, safe-work and financial close-out controls.
Monitor health
Capture condition readings and counters. Test exception-to-notification rules with sample data; connected sensors and predictive models require separate validation.
Analyse and optimise
Review backlog, maintenance cost, repeat failures and schedule adherence. Use reliable history to refine task lists, intervals and spare-parts decisions.
This is an enterprise asset lifecycle training framework. It is separate from SAP’s phase-based maintenance order process. App availability, configuration and licensing depend on the selected SAP edition and release.
Follow one repair from request to review.
The corrective-maintenance exercise connects the notification to planning, execution and close-out. The team checks the asset reference, work scope, parts, responsibilities and completion record.
Three scenarios for a meaningful demonstration.
Corrective breakdown
A sample equipment fault becomes a notification and work order. The planner defines operations, aligns stock or purchased components, and reviews technician feedback and cost capture.
Check: request, order, parts and completion remain traceable.Preventive maintenance
A task list and maintenance plan establish scheduled work. Participants review due work, production windows, completion evidence and follow-up notifications for defects found during inspection.
Check: planned work has an owner and a complete execution record.Condition-based exception
A sample measurement tests a configured threshold rule. The planner reviews the exception before assigning corrective work. Sensor connectivity and automated triggers are optional extensions.
Check: the rule, decision and resulting work can be explained.Ten practical use cases to work through.
Breakdown capture
Record equipment, symptoms, priority and malfunction timing in a notification.
Order planning
Define operations, responsibilities, target dates and execution requirements.
Stock spares
Trace reservations, goods issues and returns against the maintenance order.
Non-stock procurement
Follow purchase requisition, purchase order and receipt through the agreed MM process.
External services
Link service purchasing, acceptance and cost to the repair requirement.
Warranty and AMC
Check coverage and retain vendor action, service references and supporting evidence.
Preventive work
Review plan scheduling, task lists, completion records and follow-up findings.
Condition readings
Record running hours or condition values and test configured exception handling.
Calibration
Plan due dates and retain results and certificates, with QM integration where applicable.
Reliability review
Examine downtime, failure codes, order cost and the completeness of the source data.
Connect the work to the wider enterprise.
Materials Management supports parts and service purchasing. Finance and Controlling support cost capture and settlement. Production coordination aligns maintenance with equipment availability. Equipment records can carry fixed-asset references where configured.
Quality Management for calibration or inspections, mobile execution, safe-work integrations, partner collaboration and IoT connectivity require their own scope and prerequisites. They are assessed explicitly during solution design.
Clear roles, master-data ownership, approval rules and completion discipline come before automation. Training uses sample assets and data, with access arranged for the agreed environment.
Validate the process before claiming the benefit.
The training outcome is a checked workflow and an agreed gap list. Operational measures below are proposed for a pilot or rollout; they are not achieved project results.
| Measure | Evidence to capture |
|---|---|
| Maintenance backlog | Open orders, agreed age buckets, asset criticality and accountable owners. |
| Schedule adherence | Approved scheduled work and completed work within the same reporting period. |
| Repair and failure intervals | Consistent malfunction timestamps, operating-time basis and failure definitions for MTTR and MTBF. |
| Maintenance cost | Labour, material and service postings, plus agreed settlement and reporting scope. |
| Calibration and repeat failures | Due dates, completion evidence, certificates and consistent equipment/failure codes. |
Scope the learning around your operation.
Is this a completed client implementation?
This is a training and solution demonstration approach. A production implementation and its measured results require separate delivery and verification.
What should participants prepare?
Sample equipment and location structures, task lists, spare-parts requirements, calibration records and role definitions help make the exercises relevant. System access and permissions are agreed in advance.
Are mobile, cloud collaboration and predictive maintenance included?
They are optional scope items. The SAP edition, release, licences, devices and integration services determine what can be demonstrated and delivered.
Does this provide SAP certification?
MetaDynamic training and demonstrations are distinct from vendor certification. Assessment, completion criteria and any vendor examination arrangements must be agreed separately.
