Data engineering & integration

Data engineering.
Built to keep business moving.

Move data from operational systems into dependable analytics and AI workflows. MetaDynamic designs pipelines that are traceable, recoverable and owned from source to consumption.

The engineering discipline

Reliable data is engineered at every step.

Data engineering connects source systems to usable data products. Our work covers ingestion, transformation, validation and delivery—with attention to the failures, changing schemas and recovery steps that production systems must handle.

We select batch, incremental or event-driven patterns to suit the business requirement. Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Databricks and SQL-based services are assessed against your existing estate, skills and operating costs.

  • Documented data contracts
Make the source, structure, expected arrival and owner explicit.
  • Visible quality checks
Test completeness, validity and control totals before publishing.
  • A recoverable process
Document failures, checkpoints and safe restart procedures.
Pipeline design

Three layers. Explicit responsibilities.

01

Capture the source

Preserve the incoming structure and record extraction time, source identifiers and load status.

02

Validate & transform

Apply agreed mappings, business rules and quality checks. Isolate exceptions for review.

03

Publish for consumption

Deliver documented data products to analytics or applications with clear access and freshness expectations.

What we deliver

Data Engineering & Integration services

01 / ENGINEERING

Source integration & ingestion

Connect approved ERP, database, file and API sources with documented interfaces and extraction rules.

02 / ENGINEERING

ETL & ELT pipelines

Design repeatable transformations with incremental loading, scheduling and dependency management.

03 / ENGINEERING

Lakehouse & warehouse engineering

Create raw, validated and consumption-ready data structures with clear retention and ownership.

04 / ENGINEERING

Data quality & reconciliation

Check completeness, duplicates, key relationships and control totals before data reaches consumers.

05 / ENGINEERING

Performance & cost optimisation

Review partitioning, processing windows, storage choices and workload behaviour against service needs.

06 / ENGINEERING

Monitoring & recovery

Provide failure alerts, restart procedures, operational documentation and accountable support.

Practical integration patterns

Connect the source to the decision.

ERP → Analytics

Reconciled business reporting

Extract operational data without losing the definitions and control totals that make finance and operations reports trustworthy.

Files & APIs → Data products

Repeatable ingestion

Replace manual file handling with controlled intake, schema validation, transformation and managed delivery.

Operational events → Insight

Timely operational visibility

Evaluate event-driven patterns where a shorter response window has a clear business value and the sources can support it.

Delivery approach

Build, validate, release and monitor.

  1. 01Discover sources
  2. 02Define contracts
  3. 03Build pipelines
  4. 04Reconcile & test
  5. 05Release & monitor
Delivery you can review

Know what runs, where it runs and who owns it.

Source-to-target specification

Mappings, transformation rules and agreed quality acceptance checks.

Tested pipelines

Versioned processing logic, reconciliation and failure-path testing.

Production runbook

Scheduling, dependencies, monitoring and recovery responsibilities.

Questions before you start

Data engineering FAQs

What do data engineering services include?

The scope can include source integration, pipeline development, transformation, analytical storage, data quality checks and operational support. We define the boundaries and acceptance criteria before delivery.

What is the difference between ETL and ELT?

ETL transforms data before loading it into the target. ELT loads it first and transforms it using the target platform. The appropriate pattern depends on platform capabilities, data sensitivity and workload requirements.

Can you integrate SAP and other ERP data?

Yes, subject to the source system’s supported interfaces, permissions and licensing. We agree extraction rules and reconcile the resulting data with the system of record.

How are failed pipelines handled?

We design retry limits, checkpoints, alerts and recovery procedures for each pipeline. A rerun should avoid duplicate results and make incomplete processing visible to the support team.

Do we need a big data platform for every workload?

No. Data volume alone is not the only factor, and many requirements can be served with simpler services. We assess scale, latency, complexity, skills and total operating effort before recommending a platform.

Can you support pipelines built by another team?

Yes. We begin with a technical and operational review covering dependencies, access, data quality, monitoring and documentation, then agree a support and improvement plan.
